illustration in books for young people
All images that enchant generations of young readers are a imaginative creation by a group of authors who had been seduced into the language of the forms and the colors. The visual world on paper can load minucious information about its author. So, when your eyes goes through an illustration, you may apprehend the ilustrator' soul. In despite of these artists were inspired in the written text, they create a particular work.
Associação de Escritores e Ilustradores de Literatura Infantil e Juvenil - AEILIJ (Association of Writers and Illustrators of Children Literature Books) tries to draw attention of quarrels around crucial questions, as the importance and the valuation of ilustrators' work, as well as their effective participation in the book's productive chain. In 2005, the Biennial of Illustrations Bratislava (BIB) offered twenty vacancy to each country to display national ilustrators. Twenty authors from Brazil was appointed by Fundação Nacional do Livro Infantil e Juvenil - FNLIJ (Brazilian IBBY Section) and eighteen artists was selected and invited to the great exhibition. Well, few countries had obtained the same performance... Several of them are our associates and they are in present gallery.
This result denounces new demand for agreement of the ilustrator's work in our cultural scene. Together with Dobras da Leitura (its sounds like "Folds of the Reading"), AEILIJ searchs to democratize literature and dedicates the rewarding task to lead to public our special art.
